A Week of Luxury in Majorca & Eclipse-Viewing Party
On 12 August 2026, there will be a total eclipse of the sun directly over the beautiful Spanish island of Majorca. Seeing this rare phenomenon – during which the moon passes between the Earth and the sun – is the ambition of even the most seasoned traveller and experience-seeker.
West Green House Opera has secured the luxurious Villa Gran Vista, which sleeps up to 8 people, between 8 and 15 August 2026, and has organised a unique eclipse viewing party on a private terrace with the most spectacular waterfront viewing point.

About the Luxury Stay – Villa Gran Vista
This exquisite Mallorcan villa sits in its own private estate on a quiet country road. Built in the vernacular Mallorcan style, with thick stone walls, a terracotta-tiled roof, balustraded balconies and heavy wooden shutters this beautiful Club Home has an authentic Mallorcan feel to it.
A wide terrace, fringed by bougainvillea, leads from the outdoor dining area into the main living room, where terracotta-tiled floors, Moorish-style archways and creamy décor create a tranquil setting. Upstairs, the four spacious bedrooms feature traditional beamed ceilings and dark furniture, accented with bright colours.
Gran Vista is the perfect base for visiting the rest of the island. West is Palma, one of the most stylish capital cities in Europe; northwest is the Serra de Tramuntana, the mountain range that forms the backbone of the island; and if you head northeast, you’ll eventually come to the spectacular Cap de Formentor, the island’s most easterly point nicknamed ‘the meeting point of the winds’.
Included within the stay is a daily maid service, and the winners will have full access to Hideaways Club’s private concierge service which can assist in advance with car hire, booking restaurants, arranging trips, and more. There is a dedicated property concierge who will be at the Villa to greet the winners on arrival and show them the Villa and grounds and explaining what services, events and activities are available on the Island. For an extra slice of luxury, The Hideaways Club can also arrange a private chef if this service is required by the winning bidder.
The winning bidder will have exclusive access to Villa Gran Vista from the afternoon of 8 August until the morning of 15 August 2026.
An Invitation to an Eclipse Viewing Party
On the day of the eclipse itself, West Green House Opera’s Founder, Marylyn Abbott will host a champagne and canapés reception on the terrace of her private home, which is nestled in the stunning coastal village of Banyalbufar. Marylyn’s picturesque terrace will be the ideal location for the winning bidder and their guests: the terrace looks over the Mediterranean towards the setting sun so it is probably among the best vantage points in the whole of Majorca, if not Southern Europe to view this remarkable natural phenomenon.

What Your Money Supports
West Green House Opera is a small charity that exists to support emerging artists in a nurturing and creative environment. Our week-long Opera Season offers new productions staged by opera professionals in our stunning Theatre on the Lake and Pavilion on the Theatre Lawn, set in the lovely gardens at West Green. But Box Office income covers barely one-third of the income we need. Therefore the generosity of our supporters is fundamental to our ability to perform, develop and plan for the future.

All sales are final, no refunds or exchanges, and dates of the stay are non-transferable
Travel insurance is the responsibility of the winning bidder
Luxury stay & eclipse party is not inclusive of flights, which are the responsibility of the winning bidder to arrange
Gran Vista Villa sleeps a maximum of eight guests
The Hideaways Club can arrange a private chef if required (additional cost to winning bidder)
The winning bidder’s name and contact details will be shared with West Green House Opera and The Hideaways Club in order to administer their stay
